FAQ's

Will I feel out of place on the day?

You will feel right at home on the courses.  We try as much as possible to make it easy for you to select the most suitable course via the website, but if you still unsure please feel free to phone us and talk to Phil or Alistair.  The photographers attending the day will be at a similar level as you and probably feeling the same level of anticipation.  The aim is to make you feel comfortable and confident, so please ask as many questions you wish on the day.  With a typical group size of 6 people attending each course (except National Trust Photography Courses) you will have plenty of time ask Phil or the assisting photographers questions.

What facilities are there?

There is a large car park at MelenStudios on the farm outside the main barns. Tea, coffee, cold drinks and food are provided if you have any dietary requirements please let us know before attending.  Please look at our location on the Google Maps or Bing Multimap as Sat Nav's don't always tell the truth!

What Equipment do I need?

For most of the photography courses a DSLR camera and lenses are essential and it doesn't matter what make of camera you use we have experience with most Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Panasonic G system and Olympus Pen digital cameras.  On each course page there may be a suggested equipment list which will be useful to have.  If you don't have a DSLR we have two that we hire out to students on the day and before hand with lenses, please ask us for details.  If  you are attending the Photoshop course or the Aperture Course you will need your laptop or pc as we don't have any available.
